Ya sure . Since you mentioned that logo 'Needs to appeal to a wide audience not just 'Youthful' or younger individuals" I think mono chromatic color I mean single color would be suitable. But the most used colors for logos are Black, Blue, Orange because they show enerectic, peaceful, strongness and equality. So I prefer among these. If you want you can check by googling about colors.
