  Upon extensive consideration I have decided to award this contest to Ubaid I. with entry #316 . This entry tells a beautiful story with minimal means. On a pure white background with soft grey eyeglasses a beautiful scene of birds flying from a blazing orange tree is seen. Ubaid conversed with me until we reached a point where I do not need to change anything in this design. It is perfect as is. Conversely, entries #315 and #312 also tell compelling stories. Unfortunately there was not enough time to equal the perfection of the winning entry. I would be honored to award #315 and #312 with secondary prizes of $20 each in exchange for their AI files. Again, congratulations to the winner and I thank you all of you for your efforts.

  With 22 hours left in this contest I have awarded my first 5 star rating to entry #270 . The use of watercolors and splashes create an unusual effect within the glasses. Is there a better way to convey New York without resorting to the cliched icons like the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge? I don't know. I also upgraded entry #232 to a 5 star rating also. I find the scene poignant and a bit magical. The colors need improvement but I love the creativity.

     Also, I'm still not giving up on the sky entries. There are so many of them. I just wonder what color combinations of sky, glasses, font, and background will make one entry stand out above all others. Perhaps as inspiration you could look at the sky photos by the famous photographer Alfred Stieglitz.

  I just want to thank you all for participating in this contest. With only 2 days to go I received nearly 250 entries. Wow. Some of you have uploaded many designs and reached out with questions and ideas. Thank you. Unfortunately there can only be one winner of this contest. It is going to be difficult. Please take these last few days to make a logo that is breathtakingingly beautiful, that makes your heart stop. Something elegant and clean. Please read the description again. Filling the glasses with patterns and colors and designs just is not inspirational enough. Good luck.

  I have an update. I uploaded another AI file the description panel. There were 2 reasons for this change. I have upgraded 2 entries to three stars, each for different reasons. Entry #123 by Janaina S. because she had a real interesting idea of getting rid of the rim of the glasses altogether. The glasses become just a pure field of color. I love it. If the text "FRENCH OPTICAL" were in a soft grey or in off-white it would be even better. There is no need to make the text in colors. It takes away from the message in the glasses. How about putting a beautiful blue sky in the glasses? How about a mid-night sky? How about, instead of colors in the glasses, showing an amazing photograph showing a civil rights achievement or some amazing human achievement?

  The second entry I upgraded to 3 stars is entry #120 by Ubaid I. He had the clever idea of blurring out a photograph beyond the eyeglass frames and making the photo sharp within the frames. The issue with this entry is that the photo itself is not very interesting. Like #123 , how about using a photo that really captures the eye and the imagination? Maybe make the photo outside the frame black & white and inside the frame in color? Maybe make the photo an event of importance in human history? I hope this helps.   This is only the second day into this contest and, yet, there are many, many entries. Thank you! I want to clarify something. I am also experienced using Photoshop and Illustrator. I made this logo and have done a bit of graphic design work. You might be wondering why I haven't given any entries more than two stars. It's because most of the entries I have seen I could have done myself. I see the references and the techniques involved. I want to see something amazing, something I can not do myself, something breathtaking, not just cut outs with copy and pasting work. I want to see something that Apple would be proud to put on a huge billboard.
