A verseny összegzése

Objective: To design a patch which can be attached to a jeep roof, backpack, or other personalized items. As a collector of patches, it is frustrating to enjoy a location and not be able to add a patch to my collection. We aim to solve this problem through colorful and artfully designed patches.

Target audience:
Jeep, ORV, and ATV owners
Hikers and backpackers
Rustic / tent campers
Camper and RV owners
Hunters and fishers
In general, people who enjoy the outdoors

Layout Ground Rules:
Shape: simplified, but not square, round, triangle, etc - not complex due to not wanting fragile patch edges. Width and height are open to design interpretation.
Patch will be embroidered.
Text: Must include the term “Porcupine Mountains” and call out the state Michigan
Illustration elements: Must show off the Lake in the Clouds. Other features from the “Patch Location Focus” list are optional.
Design inspiration: generally retro looking (think 50’s and 60’s National Park artwork)
Colors: vibrate and retro, not neon
Font: 50’s or 60’s appropriate style

FORMAT REQUEST: SVG VECTOR, PNG, and ORIGINAL WORK FILE

Patch Location Focus: Porcupine Mountains and Lake in the Clouds
In late spring and summer, the valley below is bathed in emerald green of old-growth forest, and in the fall, the trees burst into a fiery palette of oranges, yellows and reds
Lake of the Clouds is the most photographed feature in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, and one of the most photographed in the entire Upper Peninsula, Michigan.
Lake of the Clouds is known for its bass fishing.
The Porcupine Mountains were named by the native Ojibwa people, supposedly because their silhouette had the shape of a crouching porcupine.
The mountains are home to the most extensive stand of old growth northern hardwood forest in North America west of the Adirondack Mountains, spanning at least 31,000 acres.
The Porcupine Mountains were the site of copper mining in the 19th century.

*We gave lots of examples of oranges and browns. We are hoping for a wider color palette, but struggled to find examples of what we are thinking.

* Don’t feel as though you have to limit yourself to what is in these photos; overall we are looking for artwork that is quintessential the Porcupine Mountains and the Lake in the Clouds.
