Matlab: Circular image tiling (Mandala)

The task is to program a general seamless circular image tiling method in Matlab based on a circular sector of an input image. Seamless means that neighboring sectors are mirrored so that no transition can be seen. A total seamless tile can therefore be made only with even numbers of sectors whereas an odd number of sectors generates at one point a viewable transition. Circular tilings in this vein are often associated with Mandalas. Because the method should be optimized for batch processing it is preferable to use meshgrid and interpolation: First an output-meshgrid that represents a circular tiling given the segment number (ma_nr) and the radius of the result circle (ma_radius) is generated once and in a batch process many different input images are read and transformed in a circular tiling with interp2 using the circular output-meshgrid.
