Sahar F. Deraz holds a position of professor at Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (GEBRI), Egypt. In 2005, she obtained his Ph.D. degree in Microbial Biotechnology from faculty of engineering at Lund University, Sweden. She got pieces of training at Dept of Biotechnology, Dept of Biochemistry, Applied Biochemistry Dept, Analytical Biochemistry Dept, Electro-science Dept, Cell and Organism Biology Dept, Food Technology Dept, Dept of Protein Chemistry. All were at Lund University, Sweden and protein crystallography at Centre for Crystallographic Studies, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. In 2007, she came back to Egypt and built his own team in GEBRI and supervised many biotechnological-oriented studies, including proteomics; bioactive and dietary proteins; anti-pathogenic proteins; natural products and health-promoting safe bacteria (probiotics).
Along with her career, Prof Deraz published more than 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of the editorial board of some peer-reviewed journals such as European Journal of Medicinal Plants, Journal of Dairy Science, Journal of Applied Pharmaceutical Science. Member at Asian Council of Science Editors, Editorial board member of International Journal of Food Science and Biotechnology. Member of Editorial Board of Indian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology; International Journal of Food Sciences (AJFS). Reviewing many articles in Biotechnology, Probiotics and Food Technology
