Hi! I'll be intrested in this project. I have a couple of questions: are the 20 input signals analog or digital? I guess it is one for each score (since there is the same amount of lines as scores)... but why so many? They can be encoded in 5 binary lines. The encoder can be made quite simple using diodes, so you don't have to use 21 wires, insted use 6 wires (you can use a very common UTP wire with 4 pairs to transmit all the signals). That's one suggestion I can make, but if you require the 20 lines that's ok. With regard to the display, I'll suggest using a 7 segment LED display since with them you achive the best visual contrats and are esay to read. Though... I don't know where to buy a 6'' display... that is somehting to discuss. Then the battery powered thats not problem, you have to specfy the amount of time you want it to be on, the you chose how big the battery needs to be. I can make the software, make a PCB if you don't want a mess of wires, make a 3d printed box to fit all the electronics and the push switch. Namely, 00,05,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55,60,65,70,75,80,85,90,95. The system must receive 20 wires with one ground wire to make the switching action. The system must display the correct numerals in accordance with the switch closed and then ignore any other switch closures after the initial switch closure. The display will be held until the unit is reset by a push button to a blank display and is ready for the next input. The system needs to be portable and on a tripod for display.
