VB.net project in development - need help to make repairs and continue develop

I have an ASP.NET project (VB - not C#) in development - it is not bug free and it has unfinished components : [login to view URL] Project has 8 pages. Some pages use VB code to load content dynamically, inluding usercontrols (1 usercontrol at a time, which usercontrol loads depends on the page the user is on and what button the user clicks). For some reason, when user interacts with the dynamically loaded usercontrol, parts of the usercontrol disappears on postback; eg ddls lose their values. The code for the functionality of usercontrols that are completed is in VB. 1 solution would be to rewrite the VB code using jQuery, and webmethods, but this solution would require a lot of work I think. I am hopeful that a VB solution is possible? Maybe the solution requires better or proper use of the page life cycle (online research shows that loading usercontrols in [login to view URL] helps viewstate retain data and helps avoid lose of data on postback) but I cannot figure out how to do this). I need help to solve this problem - my preference is with VB. If you are an expert programmer and know all that is needed about usercontrols, postback, page life cycle, and ViewState, I could use your help. There are also some other errors that will need cleaning up, after the above problem is sorted, and then more development of other usercontrols will follow.
