The following means were obtained: (c) An Organizational Psychologist wants to examine the effect of task mental models (mental representations of how the work is to be done) on the performance of work teams. She postulates that there are two important factors related to mental models. First, how shared are the mental models among the team members? Second, how accurate are the individual team members’ mental models, on average? She studies the performance of a sample of work teams that were classified based on Shared-ness (Low or High) and on Mean Accuracy of Mental Models (Poor, Moderate or Good). Assume equal sample size per cell. The means obtained are as follows: Question 4 A researcher was interested in examining difference in happiness levels between male and female undergraduates after graduation. A questionnaire assessing their level of happiness was administered to 8 male and 8 female graduates immediately after a graduation ceremony. The scores are given below (1 = lowest level of happiness, 20 = highest level of happiness). What advantages does the Mann-Whitney U test have over the independent groups t-test? (c) Using hand calculations, conduct a Mann-Whitney U test to determine whether there is a relationship between gender and the level of happiness after graduation (α = .05). You may confirm your hand calculations using SPSS. Set out your hypothesis testing in detail, including the null and alternate hypotheses. Indicate the outcome from the analysis. You should show all your working by hand for all the steps in hypothesis testing. State your conclusions clear. (d) Report the findings of the analysis in APA format.
