We want to build a user defined function for text categorisation that does the following:
- Looks into a text string,
- Finds the presence of words in the text tring
- Words to be found are among a Data base of words,
- Each word of the list is associated to other words
- The function returns 1) The word(s) found in the texted string 2) the associated word(s)
Example:
Text string: "Alice runs in the woods and falls into a hole"
Word Data Base:
(...)
Alice: story, rabit, disney...
Wood: nature, trees...
(...)
Function(TextString, Word1) = Alice
Function(TextString, Word2) = Wood
Function(TextString, Word1, Associated1)=story
Function(TextString, Word1, Associated2)=rabit
Function(TextString, Word2, Associated1)=nature
Function(TextString, Word x, Associated y) = z
!!Specials:
- The list of words and associated words have to be inputable in colums (i.e the dictionnary is in a excel sheet, not hard coded in the function)
- The function should be more effective and less calculation consuming than the use of sheet unsing multiple search() functions on each word

Hi, I ll code these function in an Excel VBA macro. I need just a sample file. And yes the words will be in the workbook not hard coded. So the macro will work for any number of words. I can start and finish in less than 1 day. Also feel free to discuss in French if you want. Thanks

I am VB and GIS developer and well versed in Excel and programming of Excel using VBA or even developing Add-in for Excel using VSTO of .NET. I gave also courses in Excel for UN employees here in Palestine - Gaza. The attached image is screen shot for Add-in for Excel to integrate Excel with another application called MetaTrader4 to allow the users to trade from within Excel. This project is complicated and deal with many technologies and fields like calling underlying layer for communications and graphics to have dynamic charts and link to MS Access to store the actions by the user and finally controlling MetaTrader from Excel.

I may code the function in order to return an array where you can choose the main word and the secondary ones just using something like =YourFunction (TextString, MainWords, Secondary) (1,2) that will return the main word1 and the secondary word2 in order to have the ability to use it by calling the function by iteration (i, j)
