Build a small chat web application

Hello, I have experience with exactly this kind of projects: i used to work for a whole year on developing and maintaining a chat app (we used websockets) and I am using digital ocean exclusively for my apps. Just a question: is RoR the only option ? I would prefer Clojure and clojurescript. Can do it in RoR too, but was just curious about the spec.
