We are currently moving an application from windows to Linux and need a little help with scripting the last part of the install. Need a Linux bash script that will help as part of an install. It will need to take the ip address and root password (Securely) of a remote server via user input and 1) SFTP 3 files from a defined location on the local server, to a defined location on a remote server. 2) Create a user on the remote server with a predefined password. They will have predefined group and user id's, and using /bin/bash as the users shell. 3) Run a number of commands on the remote server to set up environment variables, and be able to check on the responses. 4) Provide exit codes based on exit point. I'm an experienced Linux System's Administrator; shell scripting is my bread and butter. And rollouts and automated configuration management are fields that particularly appeal to me. Note: While I could certainly implement your project the way you've described, just reading your project description suggested a couple of minor security tweaks that might be worth including, specifically using ssh keys instead of a password, and possibly using a different user instead of root. If you accept my bid we can discuss whether such changes would actually be feasible in your situation.

Hi guys, happy to help with your project. sounds like pretty simple bash script. just curious, if you're moving to Linux, did you consider using ansible or any other automation tools to streamline installation? Also, as long as it is SW installation - could package manager (yum or apt, depending on distro) be of any help there?
