I would like to purchase assistance setting up and configuring several Linux systems using the payment arrangement described below. To begin, please estimate your time to accomplish the following:
**Assist me to install and configure MySQL 5 on a Fedora 4 Linux server.
Notes:
(1) I am a novice Linux user (less than six months) but I have about 20 years of experience in Information Technology
(2) No data backup/recovery is necessary
(3) I have already installed and used Fedora 4 with MySQL 4.1 on this server
(4) I have a general understanding of the steps involved but I will need assistance with error messages and configuration choices. (Example: the system should run MySQL on startup, but that is not the default setting.)
**
Please see the "Deliverables" section to see how we will work.
The key idea is this: you are always paid for the actual time you work as long as it is not greater than your estimate. If you underestimate the time needed then I will pay you for your actual work, and I may ask you to provide a new estimate to finish.
## Deliverables
Here's how we will work:
(1) I will send you a Linux system question or request (use the one above for your initial bid)
(2) You will review the question/request and *estimate* the amount (hourly rate x hours) that it will take to answer the question or fulfill the request.
(3) If I accept your bid I am agreeing to pay you for the time *you actually work* regardless of whether we achieve the final outcome. This is my risk.
(4) The work begins and you keep track of your time.
_As we progress the following things can happen:
_
(5a) The question/result is answered/achieved within the estimated time. You send me your final actual time worked. I pay you for the actual time you worked.
(5b) I decide that the question/result is not necessary or is going to take longer than we had expected and I cancel the question/request. You send me your final actual time worked. I pay you for the actual time you worked.
(5c) We have not reached the answer/outcome, but you have used all of the time you estimated. You must inform me at or before this point that you have reached the limit. I will pay you at that point the full amount of your estimate. I will also make a decision whether to ask you to give me a new estimate to finish the work. I may also abandon the request.
All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
