FDTD and time reversal detection in lossy media using MATLAB

The project entails the Electromagnetic FDTD simulation(Maxwell equation) of the propagation of a gaussian pulse through a lossy media. This simulation would be done by matlab. The lossy medium would be an input file with 20X20 points of different relative permitivity and conductivity. The centre should be made to have the highest relative permitivity and conductivity. This simulation should incorporate the use of time reversal of the gaussian pulse to detect the point of highest relative permitivity and conductivity.

Anyone willing to carry out this simulation must have a working knowledge of the algorithm of the Electromaganetic FDTD algorithm/simulation for a lossy media and also the Time reversal process. This result should be extended to a 3D input file situation.

This simulation should observe(with results) that the time reversal process does not locate the centre point(point of highest relative permitivity and conductivity) because of the loss in the media compared to the accuracy of detection in a lossless media. This should be backed up by enough simulations. Suggestions and analysis should be carried out on what to do so as to correct this and make the time reversal process perform as if it were executed in a lossless media where it accurately detects the point

The point of highest relative permitivity and conductivity at the centre of the input files represents a cancer tumor in the breast and the gaussian pulse sent to it represents a microwave signal sent to it , reflected by it, received at the transducer, time reversed and then converges to the cancerous point when sent back again. This is the whole point of the time reversal process.

I uploaded a paper that gives an insight or something close to what I want. However, I do ot want this project to be executed verbatim that way. I want some innovation to it.

The deliverables for this project includes the matlab program files and the simulation diagrams along with a short summary of the whole procedure
