Multiple stores solution

This project is for a new music merchandise business which we’ll refer to as “Merch”. Merch sells merchandise such as T-shirts and CDs for musical artists (mostly rock bands). When Merch agrees to sell merchandise for an artist, it will create an online store for the artist on its web site ([login to view URL], [login to view URL]) and populate it with the artist’s merchandise. All of Merch’s artist stores will use the same basic design layout, but each store will be customized to match the artist’s web site (custom header graphic, custom colors). Ultimately, when a fan visits an artist’s web site ([login to view URL]) and clicks a link to “Buy Merchandise”, they will be transported to the artist’s store on Merch’s web site seamlessly ([login to view URL]). New artist stores should be quick and easy for Merch to create. Each store should have its own separate product catalog. Perhaps all stores share the same programming code, but each store uses its own CSS stylesheet to match colors and design of the artist’s site. All artist stores should be managed by the Merch admin in one admin interface. The Merch admin shouldn’t have to login to each individual store to check orders or update the store’s inventory. Sale reports should be viewable for each artist’s store. All stores will share one wildcard SSL certificate on Merch’s web site. All stores will use Merch’s Viaklix merchant account/gateway and Merch’s USPS account for shipping. The Service Provider will be given FTP and database access accounts to Merch's web site. The store layout should be clean, easy to navigate, and around 900px wide. It should NOT look like an OScommerce style site. Use of AJAX is encouraged if it will simplify the visitor’s experience.
