I have a website that has an unusual issue, for which I need someone to fix it. It is a wordpress site, with a PHP app running a login and data recording app.
Specifically, we have some PHP code that performs a basic 'check in' feature for staff, and stores the data in a back end. If this is logged into on a desktop, this feature works fine. If it is logged into on an IPad (which it will be, predominately), it just loops back to the home page. However, my regular developer cannot find the issue. If using the "view desktop mode" option in chrome or safari, it gets the SAME result, which is odd. We need the IPad to view the desktop version of the site consistently. I suspect this is a PHP issue, but am not sure as I am not a developer.
You must be EXCELLENT at PHP and probably have a good idea of the problem before you begin this project.

What I have understood is when user is logged in from desktop, user browser agent is detected, which allows further process. For iPad perhaps there is some condition which is sending user to home (loop). To be honest to you I have to see URL first before I can tell further.

Do you happen to know if the problem is replicated with a device set to report itself as an ipad (i.e. Chrome in developer mode?) I don't have my iPad on hand at the moment or if you can send the URL and a demo login I can try to replicate the issue.

The issue that you have mentioned is really tricky. When a website appears to be behaving differently on a mobile device, it is really difficult to debug. The regular tools wont apply in this case. However I have been through some of the projects with the same functions. Sometimes, it is an issue with the javascript behaving differently on the mobile devices or sometimes there is an issue with the PHP code with a check. Its really difficult to say what it is unless the website is looked at.
If you want, I will be willing to take a look at the website to see if the issue can be spotted easily and fixed.

those kinda issues are hard to track and could take more than 3 days sometimes. But I will try to find it ASAP. I solved same kinda issue for a friend. But it turns out it was a bloody JS issue, not php. But we can try and see what is causing this issue.
I can try this for you. But Like I said, trouble shooting is the most difficult and expensive part of software engineering. It could take more than we expect. But I believe that the issue can be tracked and resolved easily since it works on desktop just fine
