Proof of concept configurator, driven by YAML or JSON

I am experimenting with the idea of a dynamic UI that will create CSV files. The CSV files will eventually be used in an automated publishing process, but that is beside the point for this task.

For this proof-of-concept, I do not care about the style of the UI. The point of this task is demonstrate that it is possible to generate the CSV files by stepping through the "workflow" steps that are listed in the YAML file.

This task does not require that you know anything about publishing systems. The point is to:

- read the YAML (or JSON) file

- walk the user through the UI steps defined by the YAML file

- generate the CSV files

The other objective of this task is to help me improve the YAML (or JSON if that is better). Until I made this file, I had no prior experience in making YAML files. The only reason I tried YAML is that it seemed easier to write than JSON. I have heard that it is better for configuration tasks, such as this. This file was made by looking at online examples and using this validator: [login to view URL] I have no doubt that this YAML contains many mistakes and could be organized in a much better way. It is probably also missing pieces that will be required to successfully perform the tasks.

For this reason, I am seeking an expert in YAML, JSON, or whatever other format makes the most sense for this project. Yes, this initial task is simple, but I want to lay the foundation for a complex configuration tool that will eventually have thousands of different decision branches. Therefore this task requires someone with excellent communication skills and experience with similar projects. I'm looking for lots of good advice!

I don't know which programming language is best suited to this task. I've been told that Python and YAML go together well, but I'm completely open to other suggestions.

For this proof-of-concept, I'd prefer that you host this app on your own site. We will ask you to migrate it to our servers as a separate, future task.

Please respond only if you have carefully looked at the YAML file and consider yourself an expert in YAML (or JSON if that is your recommendation). Since this file was produced by an amateur (me), I expect comments about how flawed it is, and how it needs a total overhaul. That's ok. It is nothing but a starting point.
