XML into SQL Azure I have about thirty different XML files that need to be imported to a variety of SQL Tables and or Databases, which are hosted in Azure. So I'd like a framework built to cover the import of each different XML file. The files will be imported and matched to existing items in the database. (which is a composite key.) If item exists, it will need to be checked to see if it there are changes between the data in the database and the new data. If the item is new or there is a change, a flag needs to be set to allow for the data to be pushed into a downstream system easily. Each XML file will have the minimum of one child node. Some may have as many as three child nodes. This should be for a framework that allows additional XML sources to be added quickly without recompiling. Application can utilize an existing utility such as SSIS or BulkBCP and should run on a scheduled basis. On your bid, please provide how you would do both the data transfer as well as the overall framework.

There are couple of way to handle this requirements , those are 1) having meta data about xml files and importing the data to a universal table structure and then process to data . 2) using SSIS script component , decoding the inputted XML file and import the data to global table . Hi, I am Nallakumar. I have more than 8 years of experience in MS SQL Server and SSIS. I have very good experience in Azure platform as well. I am going to create a SSIS package and schedule it in the server to run periodically. I am going to create 2 additional tables in the database, table 1 will store the XML file names (or else pre defined prefix or suffix) and the related SQL table to which it has to update. table 2 will have the foreign key to the above and XML file and SQL table column matching. The SSIS package will look for the file names matching each files in the given folder, do the comparison using the key and do the updation. In this way you just add entries to the above table and it will take care of it without recompile. Thanks, Nalla

Dear sir/Madam, Logical flow to work on this framework would be as below: SSIS packages would be created to read the data from XML file and transfer the complete XML data in temporary table of respective database. After transfer completed, XML data into temporary table, will be matched with main tables to check whether this is a new data or any update required in existing data and flag would be set accordingly. Above logic would be repeated with each of the XML file.
