I run a Maria DB (10.3.15-MariaDB-1). In this DB, there are two tables, say a and b. there are the following columns in both tables:
- id (unique)
- timestamp (e.g. 2019-11-15 02:39:31)
- pattern (text and numbers mixed, approx length 10 chars, more or less)
The tables consit of 100'000 to 150'000 rows each.
The task is the fill data into a new table, say ab, as follows:
Parameters:
- t_min: interval in seconds
- t_max: interval in seconds
- error_tolerance: integer
The new table shall contain the following columns:
- id (unique)
- [login to view URL] (id from table a)
- [login to view URL] (timestamp from table a)
- [login to view URL] (pattern from table a)
- [login to view URL] (id from table b)
- [login to view URL] (timestamp from table b)
- [login to view URL] (pattern from table b)
- time_difference (int) in seconds, contains [login to view URL] - [login to view URL]
- errors_in_pattern (int) contains the number of errors found in comparing the actual patterns (and not the maximum defined in the parameters)
The table ab shall be filled with records fulfilling the following criterias:
- Look for patterns from table a mathing patterns in table b, fullfillig the error_tolerance (see below)
- AND the difference between the corresponding entries shall be minimum t_min seconds (>=) and maximum t_max seconds (<=)
The error_tolerance defines the maximum tolerated error between the pattern compared. Examples:
error_tolerance = 0 means ONLY the following is true
- abcdef = abcdef
error_tolerance = 1 means there is a maximum of one error accepted. There might be a difference in one character (which includes, that the character might also be ommitted or extra). The following is true
- abcdef = abcdef
- abcdef = abCdef
- abcdef = abdef
- abcdef = abcXdef
- abcdef = abcde
- abcdef = bcdef
error_tolerance = 2 means there is a maximum of two errors accepted. There might be a difference in two characters (which includes, that the characters might also be ommitted or extra). The following is true
- abcdef = abcdef
- abcdef = abCdef
- abcdef = abCDef
- abcdef = abcXdef
- abcdef = abcXdeXf
- abcdef = abdf
- abcdef = abdXf
etc.
The deliverable is the query to perform the task as described above and insert the matching pairs into the new table ab.

what do You mean by below:-

both of the field doesn't exist in Your existing table. then from where it's coming?
- error_tolerance: == this will only check for upper case, lower case and position change of the character?

Will the timestamp of b always greater than a for the respective pattern?
Is there always a 1 : 1 relationship between table a and b for each unique pattern?
Are the patterns always unique?
From your example, it is clear that patterns are case sensitive.
Will there be any wild characters or its a fixed matching of patterns?
