- Identify the mechanical properties of Wood Plastic Composites (WPCs) comprising 60% dry bamboo fibre, 30% high density polyethylene and 10% chemical additives by determining the mechanical properties of bamboo and using the Rule of Mixtures.

- (Longitudinal and transverse tensile Modulus, Young Modulus, Density)

- Use the software package Solidworks to develop Computer Aided Design (CAD) models of door frames and potable water pipes which comply with current BS EN and Chinese (if they exist) design standards

- Perform static structural Finite Element (FE) analyses using ANSYS workbench software to determine the stiffnesses and strengths of the door and window frames using EcoNova material

- Carry out static structural analyses of the models of door and window frames made of WPC material.

- Compare and contrast the EcoNova and WPC models and modify FE models if required.

- Produce a technical report which addresses the above topics.
