Actually, you don't need to migrate to a new domain etc. What you set now is .local domain and is the advisable method. If you are facing issues with .local domain, I can fix those at DNS level and don't go for migration. Also, by using address book policies, we are able to change the email address to .com etc. Hope, I can explain little more when we are in sync.
