We need a quote for a new logo. We were called the Freeport Farmers’ Market, but have changed location and plan to expand to more than one location. We have renamed the Freeport Farmers’ Market to Cedarmore Farmers’ Market. Cedarmore is the 501 c(3) that host a variety of youth programs, including the farmers’ market programs.
[login to view URL] is the website that I’m about to rename and update. This site is very outdate, but will do so after we get a new logo. Also [login to view URL] has all of the programs including a blub about the market. This sit will need to be updated as well.
Please not that our re-branding will be as follows: Our programs will be called Cedarmore Farmers’ Market Programs (CFMP). CFMP engages in 3 youth-led initiatives: The Farmers Markets, the Seed-to-Table Community Garden and a Mobile Market that travels to low-income senior housing complexes.
CEDARMORE FARMERS’ MARKET PROGRAMS
Farmers’ Market Programs (FMP) engages in 3 youth-led initiatives: The Farmers Markets, the Seed-to-Table Community Garden and a Mobile Market that travels to low-income senior housing complexes. All support the program’s goal to increase the availability and consumption of fresh, nutritious fruits and vegetables while creating a sense of community. Launched in 2012, the Farmers’ Market is modeled after the success of the youth market program of Grow NYC and operated in partnership with Sustainable Long Island. The uniqueness of our program is the intersection of the Farmers’ Market with YETP programming where local high school students learn real life workforce and entrepreneurial skills while also earning an hourly wage.
The program operates during prime produce production season; Seed to Table Community Garden from April to October; Farmers Markets, from July – October (17 weeks); Mobile Market from July – August (7 weeks). FMP employs at least 15 teens and serves an average of 200 Nassau County residents each week. The program helps to fill an important void in the availability of fresh, healthy food options for the residents of Freeport and the neighboring communities. Community bonds are strengthened through the community garden and provide a hands-on experience for school-age children teaching them about agriculture as well as healthy eating. Inter-generational exchange and understanding are promoted with the Senior Mobile Market. FMP also spurs the local economy where local/regional merchants have further opportunity to promote their products.
