This is a contest for a proof-of-concept to build a web-based user interface.

The primary functionality I want the interface to have is the ability to search and view alternative parts, as well as the stock associated with each.

You will get a database of items, which you will need to link as alternatives.
You will then lookup stock information from an XLS file and return items in stock.

The contest winner and 2nd place will then receive follow up jobs to bring this into our live environment.

**NB** You must be able to utilise .NET confidently in order to qualify for the follow-up work!

HOW TO LINK ALTERNATIVES:
(1) In the attached dataset, all measures on any given row are considered linked item codes for an identical part in fields:
- Material number
- Part number
- Substitute material
- Alternative part
- Main alternative part

(2) Now, the magic happens in the next step where you need to find items where any ONE of the above fields matches with ANY ONE of those same fields on another row. If this occurs, you can link the two items together, and assign them a Master part number. Start your numbering for these from SPL8000000 (add incrementally for each one found). If there are no linked rows, number each remaining line individually.

OUTPUT REQUIRED:
1--> Provide a list of the linked items you detect in the dataset file attached, in the format specified on the output tab
2--> Provide a draft version of the UI to demonstrate this lookup, returning the following fields:
- Item code
- SPL Master
- Item description
- Stock on hand (from the third tab)
- Location (from the third tab)

Regarding OUTPUT REQUIRED: no. 1, did you mean that I will generate all the items one by one under the given 5 fields and if there are more than 1 row found I will create spl master number and items linked columns and list all the item codes under linked columns. If only 1 row found, still create an spl number using sequence numbering, but the code is only one. It looks like all the items are grouped into spl master number. Once this new table is generated, it will be used to give info along with stocks, location etc. for OUTPUT REQUIRED: no. 2.

I am working on it, see if this make any sense, I search for item 88038186, Two items came up under Material numbers column with values 38059773 and 88038186. Now I will create SPL number SPL8000000 with item codes 38059773 and 88038186. So this will accomplish OUTPUT REQUIRED no. 1. For OUTPUT REQUIRED no. 2, I will go back to the found 2 items 38059773 and 88038186, these are also called the item code. I will create a view or table [item code, splnumber, item description, Stock on hand, location] corresponding to [38059773, SPL8000000, Item 11246, 58, MAIN] and for the other item [88038186, SPL8000000, Item 11267, 27, DBN]
