I am looking for a skilled and experienced designer and production specialist to help me build a board game for middle school (12-14 years old) students. The primary educational goal of the game is to teach basic finance concepts. The game should be designed to accommodate 2-4 players.
We are initiating the creation of an innovative educational board game geared towards teaching children fundamental money and finance principles. Drawing inspiration from classics like Monopoly, our aim is to blend unique twists and game mechanics to impart knowledge while keeping the fun quotient high.
Responsibilities:
Game Conceptualization: Collaborate with our team to crystallize game mechanics, rules, and objectives ensuring an ideal blend of entertainment and education.
Design & Illustration: Take charge of the visual aspects of the game, spanning the board layout, cards, game pieces, and other pivotal components. The aesthetics should resonate with kids and simultaneously weave in financial motifs.
Game Mechanics Development: Construct balanced gameplay dynamics ensuring equitable chances for all participants while integrating diverse financial scenarios for educational value.
Rulebook Creation: Draft a lucid, succinct, and user-friendly rulebook catering to players across age groups.
Prototyping & Testing: Fabricate an initial prototype, facilitate testing rounds, collect feedback, and refine game design based on insights.
Manufacturing & Production Oversight: Provide guidance on game manufacturing, ensuring quality production within budget constraints.
Distribution Strategy: Advise on distribution avenues, including the feasibility of leveraging platforms like Amazon for shipping and sales.
Continuous Collaboration: Maintain open channels of communication with our team, being receptive to feedback and instituting necessary changes.
Requirements:
Proven experience in end-to-end board game design, production, and distribution.
A robust portfolio highlighting previous game ventures or equivalent projects.
A foundational understanding of financial concepts or a keenness to delve deep and grasp them.
Expertise in graphic design and illustration.
Stellar communication skills, both in writing and verbally.
A genuine fervor for education and gamified learning.
Preferred but not Required:
Background in finance or economics.
Prior work on educational tools or games targeting children.
In-depth familiarity with board game manufacturing processes and logistics, especially concerning platforms like Amazon.
