Create a written training module and a presentation that you will use to teach the interns how the Smithsonian Institute’s strategic human capital plan supports the Smithsonian’s strategic plan. Identify leadership imperatives for crafting and implementing a human capital strategy. Be sure to include problems that might arise that are related to potential leadership directives, that is, anticipate potential problems leadership might face – the limitations and implications as stated in this assignment’s rubric. Discuss how the Smithsonian’s vision and mission statements provide guidance for setting organizational direction and contributes to its success or not. Provide an example from your experience where vision and mission statements were used effectively, ineffectively, or where it would have been helpful to have a vision or mission statement. Write no more than 5 pages, not including the reference page, double-spaced, 12 point font. Use APA citations and references. Use headings to guide the reader and to focus your writing. C2P2: Organizational Partnering P2P Prepare a Memorandum in outline form addressed to the U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury: The information you feel you might have collected from your list of questions to leadership had you actually queried the leadership. (Pretend you actually conducted the leadership interviews and what they might have said.) Three initiatives that connect the Treasury Department’s human capital strategy to its strategic goals using the leadership’s information you gleaned from your interviews that support your suggested initiatives. Be sure to include how you will partner as a consultant with them to achieve their strategic goals. (The Ulrich & Beatty article may be helpful with this part.) This memorandum will be distributed to executive leadership. They will have several days to digest your communication. You will then have the opportunity to help align leadership around these changes. You will meet with leadership, as a group, in a conference room setting. Prepare a 5-minute verbal presentation(transcript) incorporating those thoughts to reassure the nervous folks around the table. Demonstrate your leadership by remaining positive, acknowledge powerful emotions in the room, inform them of your desire to be helpful, and establish a resolve to make necessary changes to ensure the long-term health of the organization.
