Proposal Description: For many years, students and professionals have been using their office computer from home via remote desktop connection. However, in the event of an unexpected power cut, office computers loose connectivity to their network and the operating system can often only be manually rebooted. To overcome this issue, a new type of switch is needed that allows the user to remotely restart a desktop computer. The user should be able to quickly attach the switch to the frame of a standard desktop computer using a non-permanent fastening mechanism. The switch should be powered by a battery and not rely on external power. Compatibility with other electronic household devices is desired but not absolutely necessary.
