Your direct responsibilities would include: - Design and manufacture molds for composites. - Develop control surfaces for a 1/5th scale prototype aircraft - Design, build and test control surfaces for a full-scale aircraft - Conduct tests, document the results and work with Product Engineers. - Develop new test methods and improve existing methods. - Design test equipment for new tests. SOG estimated at 20 to 30 knots ... average AGL 300 meters Candidate for a freelancer position on the project would have prior experience in the following: - Assess design requirements and develop conceptual designs that are compliant with customer project requirements. - Formulate mathematical models or other methods of computer analysis to develop, evaluate, or modify the design, according to customers engineering requirements. - Prepare documentation to support the manufacturing team in the assembly, installation and engineering work. - Design experimental tests for aircraft prototypes, aerospace systems, and equipment. - Develop design criteria for aerospace components or systems, including testing methods, production costs, quality standards, and completion dates. - Measure and improve the performance of aircraft components and systems. - Write technical reports or other documentation, such as handbooks or bulletins, for use by engineering staff, management, or customers. - Work closely with subject-matter experts (SMEs), like FAA technical representatives to produce substantiation and aircraft certification documentation.
