I read your project description. You didn't mention how your current API is written. I assume it is SOAP based API which you want to convert into RESTful API. Correct me if I'm wrong. If that's so I can convert it to RESTful API. You would also like to upgrade calls to mysql* statements to mysqli* statements. My suggestion is to convert all mysql statements into PDO statements to allow future migration to a different database software. It will also make your code more modern and portable.
