Write some Software

We are looking for an energetic programmer who is eager to embark on a challenging and exciting project that would help you prove your skills and sharpen your problem-solving abilities. We want a software that would automatically parse through the Amazon website to extract data on a category of products and return it in a readable format such as csv. Examples of data to extract include title of the product, link to the listing, New vs Used, price, ASIN, sales rank, etc. This program would then search Amazon for alternate listings of the same products and extract such data on those products as well, linking the original listing and all associated alternate listings. A code that simply does the first part (extract data on products) has already been written in Ruby and I can provide that to you to give you some head start on working with the Amazon API. Since this code is written in Ruby, it may be helpful that you be a Ruby expert, though we are open to the code being written in any language. The code would ideally need to find say the top 10,000 selling items in that category, then parse through Amazon to identify all alternate listings of all those 10,000 items, extracting the designated data on those as well. While there is much more that we would like this program to do, this would be the basic. I can speak with you to fill in the details on what we want this program to do.
