The summit will be held over a 1.5 days. The goal of the summit is to develop guidelines intended to improve the assessment of cognitive deficits among geriatric patients in primary care and emergency department settings. Over the course of two days, we hope to bring together a multidisciplinary group of stakeholders that will result in developing consensus-based guidelines that can be feasibly implemented and effectively improve the care of the geriatric population in primary care and emergency room settings. The format is to have several invited field leaders to address the summit followed by breakout sections with a goal of contributing to timely and pragmatic guidelines to help inform health policy at the federal, state and local levels. The participants will be representatives from a variety of medical disciplines as well as allied health specialists and policy leaders all of whom represent stakeholder organizations (Collaborative Care and Emergency Medicine physicians, American Academy of geriatric psychiatry, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Neurology etc). There is no registration cost to the invited participants as NAN is covering those costs. To date we have tentative agreements from the following speakers: Dr Laurie Ryan, National Institute of Aging Dr Don Melady, - Geriatric ED Collaborative Deborah Adler, OptumHealth Sean Hubber or another representative Epic Systems (EMR) Dr Grant Iverson, Harvard MGH on base rates and reducing false positives on screening measures Dr. Shari Ling from CMS The writer would be most involved in synthesizing the breakout reports into a single document The expert would need to attend the Summit in Denver Colorado Dec 7-8. Domestic Travel and hotel expenses would be covered.
