Hi,
I need to build a simple asp.net page that does the following:
Allow a user using Internet Explorer to download microsoft component/dll/msi to their local machine when they don t have it already installed. Like that Microsoft security warning we see on IE when we browse a web site trying to install activeX control on our local mahine. It gives us security warning :
Security warning
Do you want to install this software
Name:
Publisher
I think it s something automatic, we just need to include the dll into an activeX or may be use the msi as is. After the msi is downloaded to the user s machine, we get that security warning automatically.
Here is the msi/dll i try to include on my web page. You can go ahead and install it (don t worry), then you will see the security warning:
I think this may be a very simple task to do for a very experienced person in web/asp.net/classic asp .
The main challenenge here is to get the component to install/display security warning only when it s not already installed on the user s machine, like we get from some web sites trying to instal activeX on our machine . Again , may be that s something automatic and straight forward.
To have an idea about the whole solution I am trying to build look at section 3 in the following (This is not a bid for you to build this whole solution but only small tiny portion making a dll/msi available for download by the IE user)
Section 3:
Or look at the whole above, if you want I can create another project (in addition to this bid) where you will help me through the whole project.
Thanks
Hi, it seems you really are trying to install the CAPICOM (CryptoApi) ActiveX from Micrsoft. You should keep in mind that it's deprecated in Win7. Regards.
