E-Gold Script

Plan for instant access E-Gold script: Server details: I have a Linux Centos 4.2 running apache, latest mysql, and Ensim Pro. Background information: I have many membership based websites that use the usual Visa/Mastercard join pages, with recurring billing, etc. I also have alternate billing available in the form of E-Gold (which is starting to become more popular as Visa/MasterCard are beginning to deny using their services for membership sites). Now the problem with E-Gold is that when a user signs up for one of my sites, I have to manually enter in the username/password into the .htpasswd file. Now this isn't a big deal, but as I have many sites and travel often, I would like to have a solution that would automatically add their username/password to the file. Also, many potential members decide not to join through E-Gold because they know it is not instant access, and they will probably have to wait at least 24 hours before they are added as members - this results in lost sales... To resolve this issue, I have detailed a plan that would allow for instant access through E-Gold. Now in the plan listed below, I have one possible scenario. You, as the programmer, may determine that there is a simplier and more secure way to accomplish what I am seeking - if this is the case, great. I am always open to suggestions. ********** Scenario ************ A user selects to join an e-gold site from the join page. He is then brought to the e-gold shopping cart form for the website in question. He then fills out the form with his e-mail, e-gold account number, and passphrase and clicks submit to send the money. After a successful transfer through the e-gold system, he would then be forwarded to a page on the membership site. ** In the background, his transaction number for the e-gold deposit would be sent to a mysql db or .htpasswd file on the site. This transaction number would have a 30 day activation period. After 30 days, the transaction number and all associated information would be automatically deleted.** When the user is brought back to the membership site, they would be forwarded to a page asking them to enter in the transaction number from e-gold. After they enter in the transaction number and click submit, a script would verify that the transaction number entered is in fact a valid transaction number that is current and exists in the mysql db or .htpasswd file. This script would also check to see if that transaction number is associated with a username/password (meaning that it is already in use). If the script sees that the transaction number is vaild, but already has a username/password associated with it, the script would forward the user to a page where he can retrieve the username and password (this information would be sent to the e-mail address associated with the transaction number). If the script determines that the transaction number is valid, and does not have a username/password associated with it, the user would be forwarded to a page where they would be asked to enter in the username/password they wish to have, and their e-mail address. After clicking submit the username/pass would be written to the mysql db or .htpasswd file. This information would also be associated with the transaction number, and like the transaction number, would become inactive after 30 days. The user would then be forwarded to the members login section. The user would be sent an e-mail with thier account information; which would include the username/password they chose, their transaction number, a url on the site where they can go if they need to retrieve the username/password (this would be the same page that they were brought to after signing up through e-gold), and the url to the members area. When the 30 days has elapsed and the transaction number (and all associated information) is inactive, the user would be sent an e-mail informing them that their subscription period has ended. This e-mail would need to be in a plain text form that would be easy to alter. For example, I may want to change the content of this e-mail to advertise new sites, and invite the former member to re-join with a discount, etc. ************ End of Scenario ************* Now as I would plan to add this script on several sites, I would need it to have a fairly easy install method and detailed "read me" file. I am very familier with installing scripts via FTP (mostly php and some perl). If you are an experienced programmer, and feel that this is something you can do well, please let me know.
