We are looking for an experienced Linux System Admin to help us prepare and secure Ubuntu Linux server from scratch to host a PHP / MySql web application. We like for you to take up ownership of the app, understand technical requirements, install updates, backup server, replicate mysql, and up scale the server up/down depending on the load. You will be given SSH access to a AWS EC2 server with a list of detailed instructions. We expect you to be available via Skype for chat and screenshares as needed. It will be a plus if you are familiar with any of the folowing: Amazon AWS EC2, S3, CloudFront, AutoScale, AMIs, AWS Beanstalk, SSL Certificates, Java EE, MS-SQL 2 MySql migration, deploying WAR files, shell scripts, and configuring/maintain an e-commerce Apache/Tomcat 7 site. Please indicate your availability to work with us, long-term, how proactive you are about identifying our needs, making recommendations and taking action; and about your willingness to learn and/or adapt to our environment. We expect you to maintain a log of all actions and commands performed on server, and be of great technical support to our developers and graphic designers.
