1. In this assignment you need to turn your Raspberry Pi into a backup server for another Raspberry Pi or Linux based virtual machine. The node being backed up needs to be running a Linux distribution and your Raspberry Pi backup server should be running a Linux distribution as well. Both the backed up node and the backup node should be connected and communicating with each other using your ZeroTier VPN created in a previous assignment. The backing up of the defined node should be automatic using a cron job or other similar solution. This may require the use of a script to trigger the backup depending on your backup solution.
You will need to create a video showing and discussing the installation, configuration, and execution of the backup solution. This video will need to show elements of the setup on the backed up device/node as well as the backup device/node, as well as how the solution uses ZeroTier for network communication. The video should rely on screen capture/casting tools not phone based video recording and should feature your face and your voice narrating the installation, configuration, and implementation/execution of the backup solution.
Be sure to appropriately share the video with your instructor and TAs after uploading/posting it and submit a document titled [login to view URL] that contains the link/url to your video via the submission link titled Backup Server in Canvas by 9:00 am CDT on Friday 10/29/21.
2. Extra Credit: Set up an instance of OwnCloud and have the backup solution back data up to both the Raspbery Pi as well as an Owncloud implementation.
The Owncloud implementation could be set up on another Raspberry Pi, a VM, a shared host online, or on a desktop/laptop.
This needs to be a redundant backup solution so that if the original RPi backup server fails, there is another backup available.
If you opt to complete this extra credit opportunity, submit your document with the link to a video showing/narrating the setup/configuration, and implementation of this redundant backup server to the submission link titled Redundant Backup in Canvas.
