Automated method of renumbering / renaming files

Standalone Windows based program. I use xp to win10 We take a sequence of photos and put them into a directory. program should start at the 1st file (photo jpg) and read the barcode if there is one (renames)renumbers the next photos in sequence according to the number read off the barcode The barcode photo can retain its original name When it sees another barcode it ends that sequence and uses the new number and does it again Barcode photos will be just the barcode framed no clutter. Recap: Barcode photo is of a barcode number 200 (example only...200 is a random inventory number) Program checks the next photo to insure it is not another barcode The program renames the next photo as [login to view URL] Program checks the next photo (assuming its not a barcode) numbers that 200-1.jpg. Program checks the next photo (assuming its not a barcode) numbers that 200-2.jpg. Program checks the next photo (say it is a barcode) reads the number and numbers the next photo as cycled above we retain the source code. ++++++ or another way.... manually when bar codes are not used or program cant read it user copies photo files to a directory program shows a thumbnail of each photo user clicks on one and is prompted what number user enters number and goes on to the next picture that has a number user clicks on one and is prompted what number continue till done with all files in that directory then program starts from the top and renames using what the user had input. to fix issues: My ideas include things like ... what to do if it encounters a bar code that was already used. Maybe a limiter that could be user set that stops and asks if you want to go on after say 10 pictures have been renamed and no new bar code is found...ie it missed recognizing one. Maybe a preview that shows the pic it is parsing for bar code and the user can interact IE yes this is a bar code type thing.
